Name: 5k Twelve Step Recovery Walk
    Date: September 27, 2014
    Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:
Organize teams of employees, relatives, and friends to take part in the 5K-Twelve Step Recovery Walk, which celebrates people in recovery, and lauds the contributions of treatment and service providers. Now in its fourth year, the 5K-Twelve Step Recovery Walk spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover. The walk is part of the 24th National Recovery Month observance sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This year?s theme is "Join the Voices for Recovery: Speak Up, Reach Out." This is a family friendly event you don?t want to miss. The Cecil County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council identifies priorities and strategies for meeting the evaluation, prevention, and treatment needs of the public and the justice system. Council meetings are open to the public, and include representatives from local/regional prevention and treatment providers, health department, social services, criminal justice organizations, faith community, members of the recovery community, and concerned citizens. In partnership with the community, the Cecil County Health Department strives to improve the health of Cecil County and its residents by providing leadership to find solutions to our health problems through assessment, policy development and assurance of quality health services and education. # # #
